Child Poverty Workshop

Ten young NCB NI members met on the 26th October 2010 to discuss their ideas for the Government’s (OFMDFM) Child Poverty strategy.

The workshop was a chance for young people to have a say about what they think this strategy should look like (from a young person’s point of view).

They met with Government representative Michael Woods who was particularly impressed with what they had to say: “It is refreshing to hear the children's views they are more informed and more realistic if you like than many adults working in this area”. He went on to say “it was one of the most informative days I have had in 15 odd years working in social research!”

The young people’s views and ideas were recorded and will feed into the new Child Poverty strategy.
